1.   Borden has yet to demonstrate any similar willingness to find a solution in the early negotiations to sell the Lowell pasta plant, Liberty asserted.

2.   For Borden Foods, closing pasta plants was only one part of a broader strategy to cut big losses.

3.   It has put money into small businesses including a pasta plant and a cannery in rural Hungary and a paging company in Brazil.

4.   When asked why it chooses to leave Lowell rather than modernize the plant, Borden replies there are too many pasta plants and not enough pasta sales.
