1.   As shown in the illustration, frost-proof outdoor faucets have an extension with the flow valve enclosed inside the far end of this pipe.

2.   One was at the far end of the driveway, the maximum distance possible from the outdoor faucet.

3.   Remember to shut off the supply water to all outdoor faucets.

4.   Turn off the water using the valve leading to the outdoor faucet because leaving the outside water on all winter invites frozen pipes.

5.   Turn off the water leading to outdoor faucets and disconnect and store the garden hoses.

6.   Turn off the water using the valve leading to the outdoor faucet.
