1.   He cleaned off the old glue and the broken edges, then carefully pieced the slate together seamlessly with epoxy resin.

2.   I fixed the warp and scraped the old glue off the tiles.

3.   In some cases new adhesives may react with the old glue causing both layers to come undone.

4.   Then scrape the old glue to expose the bare wood.

5.   Use medium-grit sandpaper or a sharp knife to scrape away dirt and all traces of the old glue.

6.   You can then scrape all old glue off the end of the rung and from inside the hole.
