1.   Gill et al studied the effects of fundoplication on basal lower oesophageal sphincter pressures and oesophageal body motility in patients with symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

2.   All subjects belonged to a group of volunteers who had previously participated in other studies and who were known to have normal oesophageal motility.

3.   Fundoplication in itself did not affect oesophageal motility or transit, provided that the wrap was intact.
