1.   After sanding and treatment, apply a metal primer, and finish with a black gloss oil-based enamel.

2.   After the Rust Reformer treatment, prime with a black metal primer and finish with Noverox, a heavy-duty black paint designed for wrought iron.

3.   Even dabbing a bit of metal primer over each nail will not solve the problem.

4.   I used a metal primer on these rust marks before repainting last year, but some rust stains still show through.

5.   Sand, and make sure every speck of rust is gone, clean with paint thinner, and apply a zinc-rich metal primer.

6.   To paint the tray, use a metal primer and two coats of an indoor-outdoor oil-based enamel.

7.   When dry, apply one coat of a rust-resistant metal primer, then finish with two coats of exterior enamel.
