1. Firms within enterprise zones would not pay rates for ten years, local government being reimbursed for lost revenue by the Treasury. 2. Lost revenues during shutdown periods are opportunity costs that can temporarily reduce profits. 3. Real programs benefiting real people would have to take a heavy hit to make up for that magnitude of lost revenue. 4. The inducement to give is greater, but by the same token there is a cost to the Exchequer in lost revenue. 5. The lost revenue runs into several millions of pounds and several ISPs are believed to be affected. 6. It follows, therefore, that the cost associated with membership of the European currency union in terms of lost revenues for these countries is unlikely to be significant. 7. The ESC, however, threatened to stay away from the Civic in future if they had to make up the lost revenue. 8. Mr Kirkwood has accused the Government of pouring money down the drain after receiving figures from the Treasury on lost revenue. 9.
