1.   A bumpy but stable dirt road leads a mile west to a six-mile-long, one-way loop road through the canyon.

2.   Here crews work to repair the shoulder of the Yosemite Valley loop road under the shadow of El Capitan.

3.   Snowmobiles are permitted on most of the loop road.

4.   Plans call for building a loop road, parking lot, heritage center, interpretive trail and viewing terraces.
