1. Close kept on talking as the bear approached the refrigerator, opened its door and ate a bunch of grapes, leaving the stems on the floor. 2. Leaving the stem on, slice the leek in half lengthwise and clean thoroughly under running water. 3. One by one, peel the pears, leaving their stems, and drop them into the water. 4. Remove the thick beet green stems, but leave tender stems attached. 5. Roast the peppers whole, then peel and remove their seeds through a slit on one side of the pepper, leaving the stems intact, if possible. 6. Tangerines and navel oranges may hold their moisture longer by leaving stems attached to the fruit. 7. The scorched leaves drop off, leaving stems on the branch. |
