1.   It comes up, up, up until it is hanging just outside of the jump door.

2.   Kalt and Honnold crouch by the jump door, shouting altitudes above the roar of ice and snow.

3.   Sean Whitherspoon, the flight engineer, throws open the jump door to a blast of snow and ice.

4.   Then, from the jump door, flight mechanic Chris Windnagle sees something twinkle.

5.   Whitherspoon peels himself off the rear wall, looks out the jump door and gasps.

6.   Whitherspoon pulls the jump door closed, sits down on the floor and goes into convulsions.
