1.   The Nina Nina character, named Little Sweetie, was created by Japanese cartoonist Yumiko Igarashi.

2.   Green noted that the Japanese cartoonists were initially flattered by the resemblances but that now there were reports that they were angered by them.

3.   Japanese cartoonists and other fans of Tezuka, who is revered in Japan in much the same way as Disney, have been seeking action against Disney.

4.   Popular Japanese female cartoonist Machiko Satonaka sent an open letter to Disney in August arguing that the similarities could not be dismissed as coincidental.

5.   The Disney spokesman said the company had not received any official complaints from Japanese cartoonists.
