1.   Coventry has subsidiaries involved in manufacturing, industrial fabrication, employee staffing and agricultural products.

2.   Guoco Land has five subsidiaries involved in commercial, residential and industrial property development.

3.   The other contender was a group involving a subsidiary of U.S. West Inc., France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom.

4.   Padini Holdings is mainly an investment holding company and has seven subsidiaries involved in the manufacturing, trading and retailing of garments and related accessories.

5.   Petronas Tankers, which currently provides management services to LNG vessel operaters, has five subsidiaries involved in the ownership and operation of LNG carriers.

6.   As an investment holding company, TT Resources an investment holding company has subsidiaries involved mainly in the restaurant and catering business.

7.   The company also has subsidiaries involved in oil and gas production and gas gathering, processing, storage and transmission.

8.   The deficit on services was also boosted by the growth in royalty payments by Japanese companies for patents and licences, as well as accounting adjustments involving overseas subsidiaries.
