1.   Electron microscopy of intestinal biopsies was not done in our study, thus we cannot rule out the possibility that microsporidia were present.

2.   The uptake of PT-gliadin was monitored by immunofluorescence microscopy of intestinal biopsy specimens, using affinity purified PT-gliadin antibodies.
