3.   Meanwhile, the expansive clockwise circulation of winds around a high-pressure system off the Middle Atlantic Coast directed low-level moisture inland off the Gulf of Mexico.

4.   Scattered thunderstorms will form along the southern Appalachians southwest to coastal Louisiana and Texas as winds carry moisture inland from the Gulf of Mexico.

5.   Such a burst of low-level winds is typically nocturnal, accelerating northward before sunrise and sending of rush of moisture inland from the gulf.
