1.   A missing elevator hinge bolt, which is part of the horizontal stabilizer, had been installed, Boeing said.

2.   A front section of the horizontal stabilizer measuring about five feet also was spotted in the debris field.

3.   Agency spokesman Mitch Barker cautioned that none of the missing fasteners jeopardized the integrity or safety of the horizontal stabilizers.

4.   Hall said metal filings or shavings were also found on and around the horizontal stabilizer jackscrews on the Alaska planes grounded in Portland and Seattle.
