1.   A new honors college has helped to attract bright students of all races who might not otherwise have considered Ole Miss.

2.   Honors colleges at public universities in New Jersey, Florida, and Maryland suggest the promise and the limitation of Commonwealth College.

3.   Large private gifts have financed the honors college, an international studies institute and salary increases for liberal arts professors.

4.   Promoted as an elite school within Adelphi, the honors college makes special efforts to recruit students.

5.   Several state colleges competed to get the honors college on their campus, but Amherst was selected largely because of its strong honors program.
