1.   For years, most homeless lived in downtown Phoenix, which used to have many cheap hotels and where shelters offered food, shelter, counseling and job referrals.

2.   Like the man who died Saturday, other homeless live under the Van Wyck as it traverses Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

3.   The homeless are living in tents, makeshift shelters as well as in schools and government buildings.

4.   The homeless are living with relatives and friends, and investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
