1.   The floorboards themselves were grey with age, and dusty, but not worm-eaten, not rotten.

2.   The floorboards were still bare and the bed was the only furniture in the room except a large dark wood wardrobe.

3.   If there are floorboards, take them up and put them aside.

4.   This all applies if the floorboards on each side of the gap are parallel to the gap.
