1.   As recipients of generous campaign contributions, elected officials are unwilling to effectively regulate the firearms industry.

2.   And anyone with an ounce of sense should join in an effort to run the firearms industry out of the schools altogether.

3.   And like the tobacco settlement, a general settlement with the firearms industry would not necessarily preclude smaller settlements involving particular companies and cities, they said.
