1.   The authors used a rise in faecal fat as an objective measure for toxicity.

2.   No correlation was found between faecal fat and faecal bile acid excretion.

3.   Hydrogen breath tests and three day stool collections for faecal fat were repeated at the end of the course of treatment.

4.   Thus a correlation between faecal fat and faecal bile acid excretion has not been seen in all studies.

5.   All our patients who had evidence of fat malabsorption malabsorbed complex carbohydrate as well, and there was a significant correlation between faecal fat and amount of malabsorbed carbohydrate.
