1.   Rice-wine vinegar and cider vinegar, for example, are rather mellow, while distilled white vinegar provides a more direct hit of acid.

2.   Then lay a clean cloth over the area and saturate it with white distilled vinegar.

3.   To remove more stubborn residue, it may be necessary to soak them in a solution of water and distilled white vinegar, then scrape with a dental pick.

4.   Erase ballpen marks on wood or painted walls with a dab of distilled white vinegar.
