1.   Basic testing will include an assessment of distance vision.

2.   And ones who are farsighted and want their near vision back would find their distance vision impaired.

3.   Both Lasik and PRK slightly reshape the surface of the eye, making it either flatter to improve distance vision or more steeply pitched to improve near vision.

4.   In that eye, distance vision may stay slightly blurry, but the other eye will compensate.

5.   Nearsighted people in that age group who get LASIK will see their distance vision improve but may become more dependent on reading glasses.

6.   Other side effects included seeing double images, glare, halos and fluctuating distance vision.

7.   The panel said it was important that patients understood that intermediate distance vision was not improved.

8.   These monocular contact lenses correct one eye for distance vision and the other for close-up vision.
