1.   Besides holding more information than standard floppy disks, the new disks work about five times faster than a regular floppy disk.

2.   In order for ECD to survive, the disks must work in any CD-ROM drive and they must be available at a reasonable price.

3.   The disk works with either Windows or Macintosh systems.

4.   The same disks work on both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh machines.
