1.   Decaying material on the bottom was stirred up by strong eastern winds that robbed oxygen from the water.

2.   In the larval stage, they eat decaying organic material in the soil, and occasionally small root hairs.

3.   In the wild, the sterile fronds hold the fern to the bark and trap decaying organic material for nutrients.

4.   The tank contains cesium and decaying organic materials that generate hydrogen, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and ammonia.
