1.   Sachs advocates letting the Brazilian currency float, a path Fischer has rejected as too likely to encourage a price spiral.

2.   The International Monetary Fund meanwhile welcomed currency float, saying it was a part of the long-term strategy aimed at maintaining Indonesian economic growth at the current level.

3.   Argentina extended foreign exchange and partial bank holidays through Monday ahead of a planned currency float.

4.   The unfettered currency float is to come after a weeklong banking holiday that barred most currency trading and financial transactions.
