1.   Probably the greatest number were always corn mills, those more distant being used to provide a steady income.

2.   The corn was already knee-high and growing fast.

3.   The corn was still sown, cut and threshed as it was a hundred years ago.

4.   The corn is ground into meal.

5.   As an edible plant, corn is an oddity because its fruit is composed entirely of seeds.
