1.   Copper gutters are frequently installed on historic houses because they are stately, durable and never need painting.

2.   Even a copper gutter will be OK, as long as the downspout goes into the ground or a drywell.

3.   The original copper gutters and drain pipes have been stripped of paint.

4.   The purists might not like it, insisting on traditional wood gutters, or better yet, copper gutters.
