1.   Like existing radio telescopes, SKA can see through the cosmic dust that obscures the view from conventional optical telescopes.

2.   Unlike massive conventional telescopes, which must move continually to follow distant objects, the only moving part of the Hobby-Eberly telescope is the lightweight tracker.

3.   Its presence was detected by its faint ultraviolet light, which is invisible to conventional telescopes.

4.   Radio telescopes monitor radio waves coming from stars rather than light as conventional telescopes do.

5.   Their gravity is so powerful that not even light can escape them, making them invisible to conventional telescopes.
