1.   The human rights organization Amnesty International was quoted as condemning widespread arrests, torture under interrogation, summary executions and mass extra-judicial killings of Kuwaitis.

2.   The government quickly condemned the arrest, but the president issued no statement.

3.   The Yugoslav Left condemned the arrest and called for Milosevic to be released so he could defend himself.

8.   An Egyptian human rights group Thursday condemned the arrest of Muslim Brotherhood supporters who were trying to set up an Islamic-oriented political party.

9.   An international press watchdog group, the Paris-based Reporters Without Frontiers, condemned the arrests, but said they came as no surprise.

10.   Before his arrest, Mandaza, a political scientist and former senior official in the government, condemned the arrest earlier Monday of Kwinjeh, Goncalves and Mungazi.
