1.   You can use your grass clippings to start your own compost pile.

2.   An individual plant will probably not self-seed in a container in your dining room, so after it blooms you can toss it on the compost pile without guilt.

3.   And before I left the farm, I remembered to gather seeds from the deep pink hollyhock that had bloomed all summer in the compost pile.

4.   And about the only thing I build for the garden is a compost pile.

5.   Another frequent cause of a sluggish compost pile is insufficient moisture.

6.   Any pieces of decomposed vegetation too large to pass through a grid go into the new compost pile for another six months.
