1.   Clean the mussels with a stiff brush under cold running water.

2.   Clean mussels by scrubbing with a stiff brush and remove the beards just before cooking.

3.   Clean mussels.

4.   Clean mussels by brushing the shells with a stiff brush under cold running water.

5.   While cleaning the mussels, toss any that feel light, or ones that are really heavy.
