1.   Another pie is enriched with almond praline paste, giving it a sweetly caramel flavor and smoother texture.

2.   At this point, the sugar from the fruit will have burned slightly, adding a faint caramel flavor.

3.   Hints of spice or of fruit like berries or citrus often add complexity to the chocolate, as does a touch of nutty, licorice or caramel flavor.

4.   Others liked the granular texture and pleasant caramel flavor.

5.   Sugar would only taste sweet here, but maple syrup has a burned caramel flavor, and adds extra complexity to the lobster.

6.   The flan, with its deeply caramel flavor, was the best we had and a dish of candied grapefruit with white cheese was a pleasant change from guava.

7.   The little plastic worm is a nice touch, coming out of the Taffy Apple container of apple-flavored gum with caramel flavor on the outside.
