1. Little remains to be said or sung after that -- except for the brief but exquisite requiem with which Arkel brings the opera to an end. 2. He wanted to bring opera to Tanglewood, but, you know, budget problems and all. 3. If the San Francisco Opera had merely brought this opera into being, that alone would have been a towering attainment. 4. Now, somewhat grimly, Boulez is reluctant to say who he hopes will finally enable him to bring the opera to completion. 5. But technical wizardry goes only so far in bringing an opera to life. |
