1.   In New York, the Senate voted to impose a partial birth abortion ban last year, but it never reached the floor of the Assembly.

2.   Lazio says he is an abortion rights supporter, but he too favors the partial birth abortion ban and has described Clinton as extreme for opposing it.

3.   That may be because the partial birth ban is frequently misadvertised as dealing only with a rare procedure used in late-term abortions.

4.   Congress is voting on the measure at the same time the Supreme Court is prepared to hear arguments on the constitutionality of a partial birth ban enacted in Nebraska.
