1.   Calcium is determined using a variety of other reagents and most reliably by using atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

2.   There is no mention of environmentally important techniques as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, etc.

3.   To determine these it is necessary to use a slower method such as atomic absorption spectroscopy or neutron activation.

4.   After dry ashing of the freeze dried samples, total calcium was measured using an atomic absorption spectophotometer and total phosphate was measured as described by Fiske and Subbarow.

5.   Haemolysis was determined by measuring the Fe content of the supernatant using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer.

6.   Analysis was by atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
