1.   After all, her two earlier novels were narrative tour de forces that were as affecting as they were absorbing.

2.   Both are as affecting as anything else in this ravishing show.

3.   Quieter, and as affecting, there are interludes in the bed-work.

4.   The scene in the play is never as affecting, sharp or funny as it might have been.
