1. As exceptionally chilly air arrives aloft at high altitudes, the atmosphere will become unstable, increasing the risk for isolated weak tornadoes or coastal waterspouts. 2. As a packet of cold, fast-moving air arrives aloft, a few of these storms will turn severe. 3. As warmer air arrives aloft from the South, a brief period of sleet or freezing rain could affect portions of northern Missouri and Illinois. 4. A thunderstorm could erupt late in the day as a pocket of colder air arriving aloft renders the atmosphere more unstable. 5. Isolated thunderstorms will affect parts of the Tennessee and lower Mississippi Valleys as cold air arrives aloft while mild, modestly moist air amasses near the ground. 6. Snow will fall over the higher mountain peaks as a pool of cold air arrives aloft. 7. Though severe weather is possible, warm air arriving aloft will act like a lid, reducing the risk. |
