1.   First, there were some aquatic animals with braincases and the beginnings of a backbone.

2.   From there it leaches into groundwater, eventually finding its way to rivers and lakes, where it causes algae blooms that suffocate aquatic animals.

3.   More emphasis now is being put on experiments in human physiology and those involving the numerous aquatic animals aboard.

4.   One result has been that numbers of tiny aquatic animals that feed on the phytoplankton were cut about in half, sharply reducing food for bigger creatures.

5.   Residents say the aquatic animals they used to eat have died and that child malnutrition is widespread.

6.   Several rivers and creeks also showed very low levels of oxygen, which all aquatic animals need to breathe.

7.   The crew, however, monitored the host of aquatic animals on board.
