1.   Alcoa Inc. announced Thursday it has sold a stake in a western Australian alumina refinery to satisfy the requirements of government regulators in its purchase of Reynolds Metals Co.

2.   Alumina refineries produce two grade of alumina from bauxite ore.

3.   The plant, the largest alumina refinery in Jamaica, extracts alumina from bauxite.

4.   This was followed by two alumina refineries operated by Alcan Jamaica Company, or Alcan, a subsidiary of the Aluminium Company of Canada.
