3.   Arctic air will surge south through northern parts of the Plains and Mississippi Valley on Thursday in the wake of a cold front.

4.   As colder air surges toward the eastern Great Lakes, more snow showers will develop.

5.   As cold air surges southward on Thursday, a low-pressure system near the Middle Atlantic Coast will strengthen rapidly.

6.   At the same time, unseasonably chilly air will surge into the Rocky Mountain states accompanied by numerous showers and areas of mountain snow.

7.   At the surface, tropical air surges northward ahead of these disturbances.

8.   Behind the front, warm and humid air will surge into the Middle Atlantic states and Ohio Valley.

9.   Behind the front, warmer air will surge into southern and central New England.

10.   Behind the low, very cold air will surge south through the Rockies and Plains.
