The industry, though, has largely failed to manufacture a low-nicotine cigarette and has denied that it adjusts chemical levels in cigarettes to addict smokers. 7. The lawsuit contended that the tobacco industry had concealed knowledge that nicotine was addictive and had manipulated nicotine levels in cigarettes to keep smokers addicted. 8. The program accused Philip Morris and other tobacco companies of manipulating the level of nicotine in cigarettes to addict smokers. 9. The suit claims that the industry knowingly addicted smokers and then failed to adequately warn them. 10. Two years ago a Kansas City man sued cigarette manufacturers, accusing them of deliberately addicting smokers to nicotine. |
