71.   Two more hard-hit currency dominoes, the Malaysian ringgit and Philippine peso, managed gains last week.

72.   Within six weeks, market turmoil had weakened the Indonesian rupiah, the Malaysian ringgit, the Philippine peso and even the Singapore dollar.

73.   A fall of the Malaysian ringgit also helped push share prices down.

74.   All hell broke loose when Malaysian ringgit, Indonesian rupiah and Philippine peso fell like dominos.

75.   But its fall was slight compared to the Thai baht and the Malaysian ringgit because the island city-state is considered to have a much sounder economic base.

76.   But on Thursday, the Malaysian ringgit was higher in late trading as investors took profits on dollars.

77.   Dealers said the baht is taking a beating from a regional selloff, which helped drag down the Malaysian ringgit, the Singapore dollar and the Indonesian rupiah.

78.   Dealers said the fall was in concert with plunges in other regional currencies, including the Malaysian ringgit and the Thai baht, which hit new lows as well.

79.   Dealers said the Malaysian ringgit had traded within an expected range against the US dollar amidst renewed concerns about the health of the domestic banking sector.

80.   Cool name aside, though, it was hard to believe that this rather light and tiny coin in my palm is worth almost an entire Malaysian ringgit.
