61.   In a large, nonreactive pan, dissolve the sugar in cider vinegar.

62.   In small bowl, stir the orange juice and sugar until the sugar dissolves.

63.   In small bowl, stir together brown sugar, vinegar, rum and lime juice until sugar dissolves.

64.   Let this stand at room temperature while the ribs are cooking so the sugar can completely dissolve.

65.   Make sure sugar completely dissolves before you bring the mixture to a boil.

66.   Meanwhile put sugar and water in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan and cook over lowest possible heat until sugar has dissolved completely.

67.   Mix very well, so that the sugar dissolves completely.

68.   Place over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

69.   Place over saucepan, and whisk slowly until sugar dissolves.

70.   Place over low heat and cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
