41.   Remove the paint with chemical paint remover.

42.   Since it is caustic, it probably is a paint remover of some sort, or a relative of paint remover.

43.   So, you will probably first have to strip off all the finish down to the bare wood by either sanding or by using a chemical paint remover.

44.   Should I use paint remover or any other stripping material?

45.   So, sand off the paint or remove it with chemical paint remover.

46.   That leaves chemical paint remover, a miserable, messy job, compounded by the fact that you will be working overhead.

47.   The old finish was removed with paint remover and I have tried Gel Gloss, but that does not do the job.

48.   The only solution I can suggest now is to remove all of the old paint, either by sanding and scraping or with a chemical paint remover.

49.   Then, use a non-methylene chloride paint remover.

50.   The walls must be sanded to bare wood or the finish removed with chemical paint remover, then sanded.
