41.   Several ASEAN countries and other states in the region have overlapping territorial claims to the Spratly and Paracel islands in the South China Sea.

42.   South Korea is also expected to ratify the convention and make similar overlapping claims.

44.   Thailand will also discuss issues related to overlapping claims in the Gulf of Thailand.

45.   The Philippines and China, along with Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam have overlapping claims to the archipelago and its surrounding waters.
