41.   Health officials reported the first cases of the West Nile virus in New York City this year after they found two birds with the potentially fatal disease.

42.   However, none of the mosquitoes taken from the Boston pond where an infected bird was also found over the weekend have tested positive.

43.   In Maryland, officials say they are undecided about whether to spray pesticides in areas where infected birds are found.

44.   Last month an infected bird was found in Massachusetts for the first time.

45.   Meanwhile, in Rockland and Westchester counties, no new spraying was announced because the areas where the birds were found have already been sprayed.

46.   Some birds are found in many habitats.

47.   Testing has continued across the Delaware River in Bucks County, Pa., but officials there say so far no infected birds have been found.

48.   The department announced plans to begin spraying for mosquitoes in the communities surrounding the areas where the birds were found.
