41.   The State Department advised Americans to defer all travel to the eastern provinces of Zaire, which comprise North and South Kivu, Maniema and Upper Zaire.

42.   The State Department later reissued a warning to Americans, advising them to defer travel to Pakistan or consider leaving the country if they were already there.

43.   Thai citizens were advised meanwhile to defer travel to the African state.

44.   The department said Australians should consider deferring non-essential travel to Sri Lanka until further notice.
