41.   The Amnesty delegation, led by former Canadian foreign minister Flora MacDonald, is here to urge Tanzania to halt forced repatriations of Burundian refugees.

42.   Tanzania and Burundi last month launched campaigns to try and persuade Burundian refugees to return home, following the installation of a transitional government in Bujumbura last November.

43.   The conflict has cut more than a million Rwandan and Burundian refugees and displaced Zaireans off from international assistance in the east of the country.

44.   The last expatriate aid workers were evacuated from Bukavu on Monday as drunken soldiers looted the town, leaving about half a million Rwandan and Burundian refugees without aid.
