31. The bill would ban the donations that have eroded public confidence in the political system while placing stringent curbs on the use of soft money by independent groups. 32. The bill would ban the unlimited and unregulated contributions known as soft money and more clearly define advertisements that champion candidates and those that are supposed to advocate issues. 33. The bills would also ban discrimination in health care and health insurance. 34. The bill would also ban the use of the gasoline additive methyl tertiary butyl ether, or MTBE, which has been found to contaminate ground water. 35. The bill would ban soft money, and it would also rein in advertising by advocacy groups. 36. The bill would only ban the soft money that those companies gave. 37. The bill also bans the use of federal funds for research on human embryos. 38. The bill also would ban smoking on international airline flights originating in the United States. 39. The bill would ban gifts from PACs, the committees formed by business, labor and other interest groups to raise money for candidates. |
