21.   Commandos loyal to the deposed Kabul government struck deep inside Taliban controlled territory with an ambush on a fundamentalist convoy, western travellers said Thursday.

22.   Taliban fundamentalist fighters have started closing in on the top military commander of the deposed Kabul government in northern Afghanistan, Radio Kabul reported Wednesday.

23.   The deposed government has since joined forces with northern Afghan warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostam and is holding frontlines against the Taliban north of Kabul and in western Afghanistan.
