11.   A House version passed Thursday.

12.   After months of legislative debate, a heavily amended version passed Congress in April.

13.   If the amended version passes the Senate, the House would again have to act to reconcile the two measures.

14.   Versions have passed both houses, only to die on the last day of the legislative session because lawmakers could not compromise on language.

15.   However the version passed by the House must still be reconciled with a version to be passed by the Senate before it can be signed into law.

16.   A similar version passed the House of Representatives last week.

17.   Differences between the two must be hammered out and a final version passed.
